ABOUT ME
I’m a dog trainer, no-bullshit human being, lazy anarchist, joy hunter and chocolate addict of the trans experience currently living a somewhat nomadic, you-never-know-what-tomorrow-will-bring life in South America with my dogs Game and Chai.
I love finding out-of-the-box, creative approaches to behavioral challenges and human life just as much as helping people and dogs communicate more effectively and using dog training as a vehicle to connect with folks and inspire them to see the world, its systems and politics from new points of view. My German-language puppy book Nur Mut! was released in 2017, followed by my recall book Komm zu mir! in 2018. As of August 2022, I’m a Certified Control Unleashed Instructor (CCUI), and in January 2024, I finally got around to submitting the required documents and officially becoming an FDSTC-FE (Fenzi Dog Sports Foundation Trainer.)
From 2017 to 2024, I taught at Fenzi Dog Sports Academy, developing 6-week courses, workshops and webinars covering building strong, genuine relationships between humans and dogs, training recalls that will hold up under real-life distractions, Control Unleashed for reactivity, play in all its forms, what science tells us about positive reinforcement, using different marker cues to make dogs and humans think and achieve precision and duration under distractions, life skills for pet dogs and their humans, teaching dogs to play, human/human coaching skills for pet professionals and creative ways to making sure your dog’s needs are met even when your workday is busy.
As of November 2025, I’m a proud member of the Consider the Dog faculty.
Over the course of the years, I have trained two medical alert dogs and a psychiatric service dog and helped two additional owner-trainers reach their public access goals.
I love getting lost, looking at the ocean, wandering down dark alleys at night by myself without anyone telling me not to, podcasting, observing free-roaming dogs, climbing abandoned buildings and writing about life and the strange species I am finding us humans to be. I spend my free time learning more from dog trainers and random fellow humans all over the world, trying to act from an anarchist perspective and loving the little things in life such as dew drops on dandelions as the sun comes up in the morning. I enjoy challenging myself to being vulnerable first, staying curious and being authentic without being unnecessarily cruel. I have an amazing dad, a sister who isn’t related to me but feels like the best sibling anyone could have, true friends near and far and the most excellent dogs in the world.
