Content without paywalls and free local training for everyone

I hate paywalls. I love making free useful content for dog folks. Help me do more of it!

Click the “donate” button (1) to send me a little something for a bag of dog food or a shot of the caffeeine that runs through my veins!

My podcasting, adding resources to my free library, sharing training, opinion and tutorial videos on Youtube (twice a week; at least until the end of the year) and occasional dog-related blogging is free for everyone. I love teaching free dog training classes locally … when I have the time and can afford to do so!

If you’d like to support my ability to do this on a regular basis, check the “make this a monthly donation” box. There are no “exclusive member benefits.” From my side: everything for everyone, and free. From your side: freely given; no expectations.

The monthly recurring thing allows me to plan “working less” ahead of time (I can only do this with monthly “subscriptions.”) I define “work” as the things I do because I need to pay rent in Mexico’s most expensive city, buy gas for my car (because dogs are not allowed on public transport here), fast Internet and food, and I live the luxurious life of someone who occasionally travels to Europe because there are three people there who matter and who I want to see a few more times before they or I die.

The more for-money work I have to do, the less time I have to make free resources or work locally with folks in exchange for goods or services (trueques) rather than money, or help humans and their dogs as my contribution to my local community. So if you have more money than you need – funnel some of it my way and I’ll put it to good use!

If you don’t have more than you need, by all means, close this page and enjoy the free content! If you have less than you need and I have something you could use—dog training or e-books no matter where you are in the world, and anything daily-survival related if you’re local to me and would like to be in our mutual aid network—just reach out!

Here’s an approximate idea of what monthly “pledges” would allow me to do:

  • €5 ……. monthly supply of instant coffee.
  • €10 ….. monthly cost of my online storage for text, picture, video and audio files.
  • €20 ….. monthly internal and external parasite prevention for 1 dog.
  • €45 ….. monthly dog food supply for 1 dog.

(1) A note on the Paypal button

If your currency is not USD or EURO, Paypal will probably reject your donation. (Paypal hates me. It is what it is.) If you would still like to make one, just email me for bank transfer details! Thank you!

Patreon for the balanced-curious

I left FDSA because I wanted to explore what lies beyond positive reinforcement based training. It was the right decision for me: I am learning SO much!

It has, however, come at a price: while I’m still the same person and, if anything, am becoming a better trainer, FDSA used to give me legitimacy. Just being listed on the faculty page funneled international students my way. This was great because I hate promoting myself. However, now that this funnel is gone, my students have started to disappear, and the ones I still have probably will as soon as we’ve resolved the issue they contacted me about! After all, in my opinion, the job description of a good dog trainer is to make themselves superfluous as fast as they can rather than create dependencies.

This has forced me to explore a new platform. I’m not teaching people how to balanced-train their dogs (yet) because I’m still learning myself. This is how I justify the Patreon paywall to myself: it doesn’t currently have content you could use to train your own dog. Instead, it’s me, raw and all, mistakes and all, sharing what I’m learning with you. I would love for this to become a community of balanced-curious folks who discuss, explore and analyze my videos together. Learn with me, not from me, and enjoy the comedic relief I am doubtlessly going to provide you with: Caden’s torture Patreon for the balanced-curious. I currently release a post, usually a video, twice a week, and will at least until the end of 2025.
